11% Inspiration, 89% Perspiration

As an addendum to the September blog post ‘10% Inspiration, 90% perspiration’, and as a Christmas gift from us to you, we present you with some more resources to round out that offering and provide some entertainment for the holiday season. It also serves as a reminder to ourselves when we’re experiencing the phenomenon of paralysis by over-abundance of choice.

As previously, this selection is in no particular order. It is just content we consume that happened to spring to mind, hopefully with some representation across all the various genres of content.

  1. Mr. Mythos (YouTube channel): Long form weirdness. An in depth look at obscure and esoteric history.

  2. Stand still, be fit (YouTube channel): This channel solely contains a series that was aired on channel 4 in the UK and is a sequence of training videos in the art of zhan zhuang by the well known master Lam Kam Chuen. They are designed to be approached with no prior knowledge but it is a solid series for practitioners to indulge in when they want to mix up their training.

  3. HearthWitch (YouTube channel): A great entry point for the craft if you’re new or burned out on all the complex ceremonial stuff. Simple, detailed and very watchable. Magic 101!

  4. The Urban Motorhome (YouTube channel): We watch a whole bunch of vanlife type content. It’s comfort watching as it’s effectively grown up fort building. This is just one example, there’s lots out there.

  5. Martin Faulks - How I Reversed my Short-Sightedness [Myopia] (YouTube video): A bit of a departure from his usual spiritual pursuits and lifestyle videos. It is a constant bugbear of ours that holistic wellness systems such as qigong often neglect the eyes and adepts are often in good health in every way apart from their eyesight. This video considers preventative and curative exercises for eye health.

  6. Poseidon Entertainment (YouTube channel): Critiques on theme parks as a form of art, quite Florida-centric. A lesson in the art of critical analysis.

  7. Lift Hills and Thrills (YouTube channel): Yes yes, it’s another theme park vlogger. But this one is particularly interesting. The guy that runs this channel is unashamedly commercially focused, it doesn’t have a huge following but by diversifying his income streams and focused work he has wrestled a full time career out of it. So an interesting business case study.

  8. Hermetix Podcast - Occultism 101 with John Michael Greer (YouTube video): One of the resources we landed on during early explorations of Hermetics, a good general and accessible occult chat from his point of view as a ceremonial magician and author.

  9. The Dao Bums (discussion forum): A really useful resource for the seeker. Of course you will find the usual politics you would associate with forums, but it is a bit more focused on cultivation than a forum such as the Rum Soaked Fist which is martially focused so resorts to pulling each others pig tails much quicker.

  10. The Spirit Of Jiu Jitsu [Inspirational BJJ Video] (YouTube video): Pure martial arts inspiration.

  11. Cheng is Always Climbing (Instagram account): Prehab and rehab aimed at climbers. Tips to bullet proof the body and have fun with strength and mobility. The host of this channel does exercises and interacts with his environment everywhere he goes so it is a nice expression of that ‘all day every day’ attitude.

  12. Night School Podcast (YouTube channel): Deep dives in to various books in the self-development/esoteric space. Focused on real world application of the ideas in the books. Like a conversation with the kind of friends you wish you had.

Once again, Tai Chi Empowerment and the Wu Xing Taiji Boxing Alliance are in no way responsible for external content yada yada….
