The Dangers Of An Open Mind
In the sample of our forthcoming Ebook (which can be found on the free stuff page) we somewhat generously give away the ultimate secret of enlightenment. So this post does require at least scanning that last paragraph by way of preparatory reading.
When you return from an enlightenment level experience, which are far easier to achieve than you would imagine by the way, not only will you still have to deal with life’s annoyances but in fact they may be harder to cope with. We don’t sell this stuff very well do we! For your ELE to enhance the openness of your consciousness (your worldly consciousness that is) you will need to be already tending towards liberal thought prior to seriously getting in to training. That is liberal in the literal sense, not the contemporary weaponised concept. People who enter training as assholes can achieve the same results just as easily as the good folk and they will come out the other end as super-empowered assholes. Hence some esoteric schools will have some kind of arduous trial before they deliver any teachings to test the sincerity of the aspirant. That will sort the wheat from the chaff to some extent but also produce the odd incredibly determined super-empowered asshole, which is the powerful villain architype.
Surely there are no assholes reading this blog so for you lovely people who choose to take on esoteric training you will end up in a state of profound open mindedness where every thought that is true can be considered, and maybe untrue ideas can be carefully played with if it has some utility. And you will be even more caring and compassionate. The problems come in the form of painful cognitive dissonance which is played out on an interpersonal level and/or through the consumption of media. Try this exercise; watch the daily news from the most neutral broadcaster you can find. Make some notes, record the program if necessary and then go and fact check the information given. The phrase fact check has been more than a little undermined by the fact checkers who operate in the media space currently but do this as diligently and honestly as you can with the tools available to you. We did just this with our national broadcaster and found in excess of 90% inaccuracies from the 30 minute program with some nefarious lies in amongst it.
Now most people will either let it wash over them, ignore it because they don’t want to go down a self-destructive route of overthinking or they will buy in to it because they don’t know better. Some will be brave and actively critique and protest. Some people (especially those who are highly empathic following their ELE) will find the dissonance between reality as it is and as it is talked about unbearably painful and unfortunately meditative work, despite being marketed as the ultimate chill pill, can often exacerbate this. Of course there is some cross over between what we are talking about here and the idea of the conspiracy theorist. That idea ranges from the astute and measured individual who is adept at seeing through the veil to the complete kook end of the spectrum and everything in-between. Everybody should approach the information they are given with a healthy dose of cynicism and it is a shame that conspiracy theorist has been adopted as a term to shut down critical analysis.
If all that wasn’t troublesome enough, once you take the red pill (actually we probably shouldn’t use the matrix analogy as that has also been devoured in the cultural milieu just like the idea of liberalism) there doesn’t appear to be any well trodden route back. There could be an argument to consider an extended version of our ‘Factory Reset Meditation’ system which we have used effectively on individuals going through a dark night of the soul type experience. If you have found yourself screaming in to the void because you can’t believe people acted how they did over the last few years followed by thinking they can now just move on, you are not alone. Working on the emotions from an elemental perspective can be very beneficial to offset some of the discomfort although you are completely within your rights to never forget.
A little context may be necessary for those of you born in the 21st century. Not long before your current incarnation there was a time where peace, freedom and truth were cool. Seriously it’s true, people actually rallied against war, unnecessary controls and lies. Often whilst wearing tie die Nirvana t-shirts, they were heady days! Of course you could just ‘switch off your television set and go and do something less boring instead.’ First person to tell us where that pop culture reference comes from we’ll send you some free stickers. Apologies, UK based people of a certain age might have the advantage.
So there it is, another anti-advertisement from the Tai Chi Empowerment crew. We really should consider changing the name of our system to something like ‘the art of 108 caveats’. But after all that if you would like to disappear down the rabbit hole then get in touch and buckle up for a wild ride.
