Don’t Think About A White Bear - Thoughts, Intentions and Beginners Luck in Manifestation

It is a common trope, particularly when discussing sigils and to a lesser extent other methods of manifestation, that after launching your intent out in to the ether you must never think about it again for fear of compromising its effectiveness.

Before we go on it should be mentioned that there will probably be little or no Tai Chi in this post, at least probably not, it may meander in that direction. And of course like a hologram every slice of our practice is all part of one picture. But fair warning if you want to save two minutes, go and get yourself a cup of tea.

So as we were saying…after wiping your working from you conscious mind you let it do its thing. But is this the right approach, and if the process is effective do you not need to revisit the artifact(s) to close off the working in some way lest you be left with little bits of paper falling out of the back of books and sat in the back of photo frames. Beginners luck is quite a common phenomenen with this endeavour and perhaps if the working was properly closed off the lull in success would not occur. Too late for us to find out now but we would be really interested to hear other people’s experience.

A good analogy for taking a more proactive approach to manifestation is if you are walking a dog on an extendable lead. If you have just crossed a road and there is a wide open field in front of you, you may release the brake on the lead as long as the dogs energy and intention is projecting forward in to that field. As soon as it appears that they are heading back towards the road you are going to monitor them very closely and lock off the lead before they pass you. Of course you are using your eyesight to determine this and the sensitivity of your touch to monitor the change in tension in the lead. Tai Chi is an excellent platform to develop this touch sensitivity and unusual power. There you go, we did mention it after all! But we would also argue that you are working in the mental space as pet owners often have profound mental connections with their animals. As well as this we would argue, and of course we would because it is the hallmark of our system, that you are also using clairsentience and the sense of touch is not just physical but extends through the matrix between the two bodies and into the more subtle astral space.

After you do a working try following the energy as it goes about its business and don’t be afraid to give it an additional command if necessary. This may help mitigate the pitfalls of magick such as achieving the opposite effect to that desired, or unforeseen consequences even if you get the desired outcome. If you’re looking for tips to avoid these we will keep the dog analogies going and throw you a couple of bones here. Opposite effects often come from intent on the negative and it can be useful to put together a simple mantra/affirmation just to reprogram the mind. To dumb it down to a very simple example if it is money magick you are doing, rather than even having the concept of poverty in your mind perhaps distil it down to something like ‘my wealth will grow’. In terms of unforeseen consequences you can always go down the Wiccan approach and build in a ‘an ye harm none’ kind of statement in to your working but that may serve more to settle the concerns of the practitioner then have any material affect.

So there your go, some things to think about….or not!
